Asa P. Pharr MD
Dr. Pharr is a board certified psychiatrist trained in General Psychiatry. He received his medical training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. His psychiatric training was completed at the Medical University of South Carolina. He offers a comprehensive approach that includes evidence-based psychotherapy and medication treatment for general psychiatric conditions. His psychotherapy background includes Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Mindfulness-based therapies. He views mental health treatment as a collaborative experience and the approach taken is based on the patient’s needs and goals. While in training he founded and lead the MUSC Mindfulness Program. He has experience teaching mind-body skills to various populations including veterans, college students, and employees in high-stress fields. He has also done research studying the effectiveness of mindfulness-based psychotherapy for PTSD.
Leah Foster LCSW, JD
Leah Foster is a licensed clinical social worker with experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution focused therapy, and mindfulness. She received a master’s degree in social work from Tulane University School of Social Work and a juris doctorate from the City University of New York School of Law. Before joining NOCMBH, she was the clinical director at the New Orleans Family Justice Center where she supervised a team of therapists and provided individual therapy for clients with a range of mental health concerns. She is also a qualified expert witness for domestic violence.
Andrew Sander MD
Dr. Sander is a board certified psychiatrist trained in General Psychiatry and completed a Psychosomatic Medicine fellowship. He is from the greater New Orleans and trained in the state of Louisiana. He has interests in psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and psychosomatic disorders. His psychotherapy approach includes Cognitive behavioral therapy and Mindfulness therapy.
